Spend a Saturday afternoon exploring the fascinating history of Fortitude Valley’s oldest hotels.
Most of Brisbane’s oldest pubs are long gone, but Fortitude Valley still retains a number that have survived the wrecker’s ball and reinvented themselves for the 21st century.
Robert Allen is a professional historian who has researched the history of the Valley’s oldest hotels. Featuring expert commentary and behind the scenes insights, this walking tour focuses on half a dozen pubs, each with something to tell us about the social, political and economic history of the Valley.
We will call into three venues along the way for refreshments and a closer look.
NB. The tour will commence at 2 pm from outside the Royal George Hotel (RG’s) at the top (eastern) end of the Brunswick St Mall. The tour is conducted at an easy walking pace but there are stairs at some venues.
2.00PM – 4:30pm
Again, a wonderful Society initiative. A serious time to quench one’s thirst.
Very happy to see some interest in Fortitude Valley (as part of the “and Districts” in NFDHS.)
