This walking tour will be lead by Ben Pritchard, who has lived and worked in the area for more than 20 years. He has seen the area transform in that time form abandoned industrial wasteland to the busy precinct of today.
Gas was originally produced at a gasworks in Petrie Bight, but the growth in demand for gas prompted a move to Newstead. The gasometer frame at Newstead has an interesting history which we shall learn about, together with the history of gas production in Brisbane and the development of the Gasworks precinct we see emerging today.
