Well ahead of the start time, the hall at Merthyr Road was ready for attendees to be suitably physically distanced.
By 2pm, around 40 members were seated. The two cameras were rolling, thus enabling anyone anywhere to log in so as to hear Jill Barker’s fascinating talk about “The Japanese House in New Farm”. Listeners also gained an insight into Judge George Paul whose remarkable idea it was to introduce this Oriental residence to Brisbane.
Jill’s presentation included a short video showing the house in its heritage splendour in Ingham, to where it was moved from New Farm in the 1960s.
Rounding out the afternoon was a humorous poetic contribution from George Symons which had the audience smiling.
